Kota doria is woven in tiny squares called khat, alternating cotton and silk threads. The square is what makes the fabric almost weightless and faintly transparent.

Weavers in Kaithoon still finish the yarn with onion juice and rice paste before it goes on the loom, which is what gives the cloth its crispness.

At around 350 grams this is the coolest of our Indian sarees, and the one customers reach for through summer.
